Islamabad, August 26, 2026: President of the National Press Club Islamabad Abdur Razzaq Sial, Secretary Dr. Furqan Rao, Finance Secretary Abid Abbasi, and all members of the Governing Body have strongly condemned the mistreatment of young journalist Shahid Qureshi, an APP reporter, during proceedings at the university’s Islamabad campus.
According to the press release, Shahid Rashid was allegedly subjected to physical abuse by the university administration and kept in illegal confinement for several hours. The National Press Club termed the incident highly condemnable and said that journalists must not be subjected to such treatment.
The National Press Club stated that journalists perform their professional duties in accordance with the law and that freedom of the press and the dignity and human rights of journalists must be respected. It demanded that the university administration conduct an inquiry into the incident and take action against those responsible in accordance with the law.
The press club further called on the authorities to ensure that such incidents do not recur and said that journalists across the country would continue to raise their voices against any violation of their rights.
