Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq reaches new milestone

Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq reached a major career milestone during the opening day of the Leeds Test against England, completing 5,000 international runs.

The 30-year-old needed just four runs to reach the landmark and achieved it in the ninth over by hitting England fast bowler Ollie Robinson for a boundary.

Imam-ul-Haq became the 30th Pakistani batter to score 5,000 international runs. The list includes former Pakistan legends such as Inzamam-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, Javed Miandad and Imran Khan.

Imam has scored 5,038 runs in 107 international matches, including 12 centuries and 31 half-centuries, with an international batting average of 41.29.

In the Leeds Test, Imam scored 42 runs before being dismissed by Josh Tongue. His 91-run opening partnership with Abdullah Shafique helped Pakistan recover from an early setback.

However, Pakistan’s batting later collapsed, with the team bowled out for 171 runs. England bowlers Josh Tongue and Ollie Robinson claimed five wickets each.

England’s Ollie Robinson sets new record in Test match against Pakistan

England produced an impressive bowling performance on the opening day of the Leeds Test, bowling Pakistan out for 171 runs in their first innings. Ollie Robinson and Josh Tongue took five wickets each.

Robinson became the first England bowler to take a wicket with the very first ball of the opening match of a Test series. He finished with five wickets for 51 runs in 18 overs, while Josh Tongue claimed five wickets for 46 runs in 9.1 overs.

Robinson dismissed Azzan Awais LBW with the first ball, giving Pakistan an early setback. Shan Masood also fell to Robinson after scoring five runs. Imam-ul-Haq was dismissed for 42, while Saud Shakeel scored five.

Abdullah Shafique completed his half-century off 82 balls, including seven fours, but was bowled by Robinson for 61. Captain Salman Ali Agha scored 21, while Mohammad Rizwan and Khurram Shahzad were dismissed for 12 and 7 respectively.

Robinson completed his fifth five-wicket haul in Test cricket by dismissing Khurram Shahzad, while Josh Tongue claimed his fifth wicket by bowling Mohammad Abbas.
