Speculations are ongoing regarding the extension of summer vacations in Punjab schools as to whether educational institutions will remain closed till August 31.
According to details, preparations are underway for the return of students to government and private schools in all government and private schools in Punjab as the end of the summer vacations approaches.
However, due to the ongoing monsoon rains, speculations are also being made regarding the possible extension of the vacations as to whether schools will reopen on September 1, 2026?
Under the current schedule, the summer vacations in Punjab are ending on August 23, 2026, after which there are national possibilities of schools reopening from August 24.
Sources say that there is currently no proposal or report under consideration to extend the vacations beyond August 23 this year.
New school timings
The Sindh School Education Department has issued new timings for government schools across the province.
According to a notification issued by the provincial School Education Department, revised timings have been set for primary, elementary, secondary and higher secondary schools.
Under the new schedule, single-shift primary schools will remain open from 8:00am to 2:30pm until October 31. On Fridays, single-shift primary schools will operate from 8:00am to 1:00pm.
Until October 31, the first shift for secondary and higher secondary schools will run from 7:30am to 1:30pm.
From November 1 to March 31, single-shift primary schools will remain open from 8:30am to 3:00pm, while the first shift will operate from 8:00am to 1:45pm.
For second-shift schools, timings until October 31 will be from 1:00pm to 6:00pm from Monday to Thursday.
From November 1 to March 31, the second shift will run from 12:45pm to 5:45pm.
On Fridays, the second shift will operate from 10:45am to 2:15pm.
