The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted another spell of monsoon rain in most parts of the country including Islamabad from tomorrow (Saturday).
In Islamabad and surrounding areas, the weather is expected to remain hot and humid during the day. However, partly cloudy conditions are likely at night, along with a chance of rain, thunderstorms and strong winds.
Most districts of Punjab are expected to remain hot and humid during the day. However, scattered rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds is likely during the evening and night in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Khushab, Mianwali, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara and Sheikhupura.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, a new weather system expected to arrive on the night of August 8 will bring more rainfall to Lahore and other parts of Punjab.
A weak monsoon system is currently affecting Lahore and other parts of Punjab. Light rain early this morning made the weather in Lahore relatively pleasant.
The weather in Lahore is expected to remain mostly cloudy today, with a possibility of light rain in some areas during the afternoon.
Light to heavy rainfall has already brought pleasant weather to different parts of Punjab, including Lahore. Cloudy conditions are also expected in several cities, including Sargodha, Chiniot, Multan and Faisalabad, ahead of the fresh spell.
The minimum temperature in Lahore today is expected to remain around 27°C, while the maximum may reach 36°C.
The Met Office said the new weather system arriving tomorrow night could bring rain for another two to three days.
Nationwide forecast
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has also issued a nationwide weather forecast. Most parts of the country are expected to experience hot and humid conditions.
However, scattered rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds is expected during the evening and night in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and upper Punjab.
According to the Met Office, most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will remain hot and humid. However, rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds is expected at a few places in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Buner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai and Kurram.
During the evening and night, rain and thunderstorms are also expected at some places in Haripur, Swabi, Charsadda, Nowshera, Peshawar, Kohat and Waziristan.
Most districts of Sindh are expected to remain hot and humid, while coastal areas may experience partly cloudy conditions.
Most parts of Balochistan are also expected to remain hot and humid. However, rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds may occur at a few places in Zhob, Barkhan, Musakhel and surrounding areas during the evening or night.
Meanwhile, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to remain partly cloudy, with scattered rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds likely at some places.
PDMA warns of urban flooding
The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has warned of possible urban flooding, river overflows and landslides in vulnerable areas.
According to the PDMA, the new weather system is expected to affect several districts across Punjab, increasing the risk of flooding in low-lying areas, rivers and canals, while hilly regions may experience landslides.
