Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has said that there is now no hope of justice from the courts in the cases involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan. He also announced a protest march towards Islamabad on September 27.
Addressing a rally in Peshawar on the eve of Khan completing three years in prison, he said the courts had been rendered powerless through constitutional amendments and that there was now no hope of justice. During his address, workers repeatedly chanted slogans of “D-Chowk, D-Chowk.”
He said that hope for justice from the courts had ended and that they would now take to the streets themselves to claim their rights. “We will seek justice through protest. We will now go to Adiala Jail,” he said.
He asked the workers whether they were ready for this. “If all of you are ready for Imran Khan, then we will march on Islamabad on September 27. Enough is enough; the time has come to come out,” he said.
He demanded that the cases against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi be heard on merit and that they be provided justice. He also called for the restrictions to be lifted and for permission to meet them to be granted.
He said the PTI would continue its campaign through constitutional and democratic means, including peaceful protests, but warned that supporters from across Pakistan would march to Islamabad if its demands remained unmet.
However, observers note PTI workers have never been peaceful on such occasion and have always challenged the writ of the govt. They also say that the young workers are often instigated by PTI leadership for harming state property and challenging law enforcement agencies.
It is also worth noting that young workers, on previous occasion, have always been befooled and tricked by key leadership, leaving them alone whenever they face any legal action.
