Preparations for the 2026 Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) General Elections took a significant step forward on Monday as the voting process for government employees assigned election duties was successfully completed.

Polling was conducted in almost all districts of AJK, except Rawalakot (Poonch) and Sudhnoti, which were not included in this phase.

According to an official statement, government employees showed strong participation in the voting process, resulting in an 80% turnout, a notable increase compared to the approximately 60% turnout recorded during the same phase of the previous elections.

Authorities said the entire polling process remained peaceful, orderly, and well-organized, with no reports of any untoward incidents or law and order issues from any polling station.

Officials also announced that polling staff performing election duties are being paid an honorarium of Rs5,550 per person in recognition of their services and to support the effective discharge of their election responsibilities.

The statement described the successful completion of this voting phase as an important milestone in the lead-up to the AJK General Elections 2026, adding that it has boosted confidence in the election arrangements and provided positive momentum for the remaining stages of the electoral process.
