Web Desk: Security forces killed seven suspected militants during a sanitisation operation in Balochistan’s Mastung district on Wednesday, while three soldiers were killed and two others were wounded in an exchange of fire, according to security sources.
The operation was underway in the Khad Kucha area when troops encountered militants identified by the sources as belonging to Fitna al Hindustan (FAH). The clash triggered a prolonged firefight as militants used both small and heavy weapons against the advancing forces.
Security forces continued the operation to clear the area following the initial engagement. Reinforcements were dispatched to the operation site from nearby positions, while military helicopters were deployed to provide aerial support.
According to the sources, a Bell combat helicopter was engaged in aerial operations over the area, while an Mi-17 helicopter remained on standby to assist if required.
The fighting left seven suspected militants dead. Meanwhile, three soldiers were killed in action and two others sustained injuries during the exchange of fire, the sources said.
Security forces have not yet released the identities of the deceased soldiers or the militants. Authorities said the operation remained in progress, and further details would be released after its completion.
Balochistan has witnessed frequent counterterrorism operations targeting militant groups involved in attacks on security forces and civilians. Security forces regularly conduct intelligence-based and sanitisation operations across the province to dismantle militant networks and prevent future attacks.
