Changan Pakistan has temporarily halted bookings, invoicing, dispatches and deliveries of vehicles as it undertakes an upgrade of its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
The company said the digital upgradation is targeted at enhancing operational efficiency by improving the management of bookings, production planning, inventory, invoicing and dealer services. The suspension will remain in effect until July 15.
The decision has caused criticism and frustration amongst customers already experiencing extended delivery timelines. Numerous buyers said they were initially assured of delivery within two months but were later informed that production of their vehicles had not yet begun. Some also came with complaints of receiving little or no response from dealerships regarding the status of their orders.
Changan has issue a clarification in this regard by saying that the suspension is part of a planned system upgrade and does not affect existing bookings. However, customers waiting for their vehicles may face additional delays before deliveries resume.
The company has urged customers to be in constant touch with their dealerships for updated delivery schedules and said normal operations will restart after the system upgrade is completed. They have also aplogised customers for the inconvenience caused due to the upgradation process.
