India’s Volleyball squad stuck in clearance maze ahead of Islamabad event

Web Desk: India’s participation in the upcoming Central Asian Volleyball Championship remains uncertain, with the national team yet to receive the required government clearance to travel to Pakistan for the tournament.

The championship is scheduled to begin on July 22 in Islamabad, but the Indian volleyball team has not formally confirmed its participation. According to sources, the team is still awaiting a no-objection certificate (NOC) from authorities to proceed with the trip.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Volleyball Federation has already forwarded the NOC issued by the Pakistan’s government to the Volleyball Federation of India last week, paving the way for India’s possible participation.

However, under tournament regulations, teams must confirm their participation within the specified timeframe. If India fails to provide confirmation within two days, organisers could remove the team from the competition.

The federation is also preparing to release an updated tournament schedule within the next two to three days, depending on the final participation list.

Organisers have received confirmation from teams representing Turkmenistan, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Bangladesh and Nepal.

Foreign teams are expected to begin arriving in Islamabad from July 20 ahead of the week-long championship, which will run from July 22 to July 29.

The organisers said preparations for the event have entered the final stage, with arrangements for participating teams, venues and logistics largely completed.

The championship is expected to bring together volleyball teams from across Central and South Asia, providing a platform for regional competition and sporting engagement.

The uncertainty surrounding India’s participation, however, remains the key issue ahead of the tournament’s opening, with organisers awaiting a final decision from the Indian side.
