National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency has detained Journalist Rehan Tariq from Lahore airport., accused of promoting religious hatred and abusive conduct in the name of journalism.


According to details, in recent days during Muharram, Rehan Tariq appeared in a podcast with Allama Syed Jawad Naqvi, where he allegedly fueled religious hatred by publishing and sharing online content that allegedly promoted sectarian hatred, inflamed religious tensions, and offended the religious sentiments of a particular community.

Following this Rehan Tariq had already been facing strong criticism for his rude tone, mocking style, and for promoting vulgarity in the name of journalism and National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) registered criminal case against journalist and anchorperson Rehan Tariq after over publishing and sharing online content that hurt the religious sentiments of a particular community.

During the podcast held in connection with Muharram, Rehan Tariq allegedly asked controversial questions regarding revered religious personalities.
Following this, serious concerns were expressed by religious circles.


After the controversial podcast, Rehan Tariq reportedly fled to London, where he allegedly staged what was described as an apology.


However, it was claimed that the act of hurting religious sentiments was so serious that members of the public, along with religious leaders, rejected his apology and demanded his arrest.
Consequently, upon his arrival at Lahore Airport last night, officials of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) took Rehan Tariq into custody.
