London protest participant Tahseen Gilani, who was campaigning outside the Pakistani High Commission, had previously met individuals linked to India’s RAW intelligence agency.
Questions have been raised about the alleged links and activities of Tahseen Gilani, who took part in the London protest, with India’s external intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).
Following Gilani’s activities and reported meetings with individuals associated with the Indian intelligence agency, it is being claimed that he was part of efforts to build a narrative against Pakistan.
In light of anti-Pakistan slogans and statements made during some overseas protests, the role of individuals participating in such demonstrations is being scrutinized. A letter has surfaced regarding Tahseen Gilani’s alleged links, in which the former chairman of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) sought an explanation from him.
A letter concerning Tahseen Gilani, who participated in the London protest, has emerged, raising questions about some of his activities and his reported meetings with officials of the Indian intelligence agency.
The letter was written by the late JKLF Chairman Hamid Bhatt. Referring to an incident from the past, he sought an explanation from Tahseen Gilani regarding his reported meeting with Indian intelligence officials.
According to the letter, on January 24, a senior party office-bearer informed the central leadership that Tahseen Gilani had met Indian intelligence officials through the mediation of a non-party Kashmiri residing in the United Kingdom.
The letter further states that Gilani himself informed a party official about the meeting during the first week of February 2020. The matter was discussed between the party’s UK leadership and the central leadership, after which a proposal to form an inquiry committee was considered.
It says that during a meeting with UK-based party leaders on February 20, Tahseen Gilani reportedly admitted his mistake and opposed the formation of an inquiry committee. Following this, Professor Raja Tanveer Khan recommended that a strict notice be issued to him.
Describing the matter as serious, Hamid Bhatt asked Tahseen Gilani to answer several questions, including the date, location and purpose of the meeting, who arranged it, why the party leadership was not informed, who attended the meeting, the names and designations of the Indian officials present, whether contact numbers were exchanged, details of the discussions, and whether any future contact was planned.
The letter instructed Tahseen Gilani to submit a detailed written explanation within eight days of receiving it so that a final decision could be made on the matter. So far, Tahseen Gilani has not publicly responded to the letter or the questions raised in it.
