Modi deserves ‘butcher of Gujarat’ title, not an award: Ikhtiar Wali

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Coordinator, Ikhtiar Wali, said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received an award unlike any previously given to anyone.

In a post on X, Wali claimed that the award even misspelled the words “Seychelles” and “Republic.” He alleged that Modi had previously received several awards that “have no connection with the real world.”

According to Wali, Modi is attempting to use such awards to divert attention from what he described as Pakistan’s military success against India and India’s diplomatic isolation.

Wali further said that if Modi truly deserved an award, titles such as “Butcher of Gujarat,” “Chief of Liars,” or “Goebbels II” would be more fitting.

A report published by the British newspaper The Guardian had also mocked Modi. This was titled: “Give Him Any Award, He’ll Show Up to Collect It: Narendra Modi’s Foreign Honours Keep Piling Up.”

According to the report, during Modi’s visit to the Indian Ocean island nation of Seychelles last week, he was presented with what was described as one of the country’s highest honours, the Guardian of the Blue Horizon award.

The report says Seychelles President Patrick Herminie presented Modi with a trophy and certificate. However, observers later pointed out several irregularities, including spelling mistakes in the English word “Republic” and in the spelling of “Seychelles” on the certificate.

It further states that the award was created just three days before Modi’s visit and that Modi is its first—and so far only—recipient.
