China’s technology company UBTech has introduced the world’s first full-sized, mass-produced ultra-bionic humanoid robots.

China has long been leading the world in the revolutionary development of human-shaped (humanoid) robots, but now the company is set to take the industry to a whole new level.

The company has announced the mass production of highly realistic humanoid robots that not only look like humans but are also equipped with advanced artificial intelligence (AI), enabling them to communicate and interact effectively with people.

The new UWorld U1 android robots, available in male and female versions, stand 183 cm and 169 cm tall, respectively, while weighing about half as much as their average human counterparts.

In addition to biomimetic skin that closely resembles and feels like real human skin, the robots feature a dual-axis biomimetic neck with a cervical spine, allowing them to replicate nearly 90% of basic human movements.

The Chinese company claims that the robots’ facial animation system synchronizes speech, lip movements, and facial expressions with a delay of less than 20 milliseconds.

These humanoid robots are equipped with what the company describes as the world’s first emotion-aware large language model (LLM), designed for long-term companionship. The model can recognize more than 20 subtle emotional states with over 90% accuracy.

According to the company’s press release, the U1 series has been developed to meet a wide range of consumer and commercial needs. Its applications include everyday companionship, emotional support, lifestyle enhancement, social assistance, reception and hospitality services, elderly care, psychological support, tourism and exhibition guidance, research and education, and high-end household services.

The company says it has received more than 10,000 orders since the robots were unveiled. Prices range from $17,000 to $145,000, depending on the features and capabilities of each model. Deliveries of the first batch are expected to begin in mid-September.
