Web Desk: Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar’s elder brother, Shahid Akhtar, has passed away. Shoaib Akhtar confirmed the sad news through a post on social media. In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), he said that his beloved brother, Shahid Akhtar, had returned to the mercy of Allah Almighty.


According to Shoaib Akhtar, the funeral prayer for Shahid Akhtar will be offered today after Asr prayers in H-8, Islamabad.

He prayed for God’s mercy and forgiveness for the departed soul and asked supporters to remember him in their prayers.

Following the announcement, fans, former players and members of Pakistan’s sporting community expressed their condolences to the family and paid tribute to the deceased.

Family members, relatives, friends and people from various walks of life are expected to attend the funeral.

Messages of sympathy continued to pour in on social media, with many expressing support for Shoaib Akhtar and his family during this hard time.

After his elder brother’s demise Shoaib Akhtar’s family now comprises of three brothers, namely Tahir, Obaid, and himself, along with one sister named Shumaila. However, specific details about their lives beyond their names remain relatively undisclosed to the public. Despite Shoaib’s fame and prominence in the cricketing world, he appears to maintain a level of privacy surrounding his family members.

In 2014, Shoaib Akhtar married Rubab Khan, hailing from a traditional Muslim family in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. They enjoy the blessings of parenthood, with their three children – Mohammad Mikaeel Ali, Mohammad Mujaddid Ali, and Nooreh Ali Akhtar – surrounding them with love and completion.
