Web Desk: Railways has announced the operation of special Eid-ul-Adha trains to manage the expected surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming holiday period.
The initiative aims to reduce congestion on major routes and provide additional travel facilities as thousands of people travel to their hometowns for Eid celebrations.
According to railway officials, three Eid special trains will operate this year, each consisting of seven to eight coaches. The trains will connect major cities across the country and run on high-demand routes.
The first special train is scheduled to depart from Quetta to Karachi on May 23. It will carry passengers from southwestern Pakistan toward the country’s largest city ahead of the holiday rush.
The second train will leave Karachi for Rawalpindi on May 24, passing through key cities including Multan, Faisalabad and Sargodha along its route.
Meanwhile, the third and final Eid special train will operate from Karachi to Lahore on May 25, linking two of Pakistan’s largest urban centers during peak travel demand.
Railway authorities said the special service is designed to ease pressure on regular trains and ensure smoother travel arrangements during Eid, when intercity movement typically increases sharply.
Officials said additional staff and logistical arrangements would be deployed to manage crowds at stations and ensure operational safety during the holiday period.
However, they noted that Peshawar has not been included in the Eid special train routes this year, meaning no direct special service will operate to or from the city under this schedule.
Eid holidays in Pakistan usually trigger one of the country’s largest annual travel surges, with millions of people using rail and road networks to travel between provinces.
Pakistan Railways typically introduces additional services during major holidays to accommodate increased demand, though capacity constraints and infrastructure limitations continue to challenge the system.
