Web Desk: Authorities in the twin cities have enforced a comprehensive traffic management plan for April 9 and 10 to ensure the secure arrival and departure of high-level American and Iranian delegations.

While the Red Zone remains completely cordoned off, officials clarified that the majority of city arteries will remain open to the public. However, the Islamabad Expressway from Zero Point to Koral Chowk and the Old Airport Road will stay closed to all traffic from both directions during this period. Furthermore, the administration has banned all heavy traffic from entering Islamabad for the duration of the summit.

To maintain the flow of commuters, the Traffic Police have established several primary diversion routes. Travelers moving from Peshawar to Rawalpindi should utilize Faisal Mor, Chakri, and Chak Belly Road to reach Rawat. Similarly, motorists heading from GT Road Lahore toward Peshawar are directed to use the Rawat-Chakri-Taxila Motorway corridor.

Within the capital, the authorities have designated 9th Avenue as the primary transit point for those traveling between Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Specifically, traffic from G5, F6, and G6 will divert to Margalla Road and 9th Avenue. Meanwhile, commuters from Faisal Avenue will face diversions at Zero Point toward 9th Avenue.

Additionally, residents of Bhara Kahu traveling to Rawalpindi must use Korang Road, Bani Gala, and Lehtrar Road. For those moving between IJP Road and Faisal Avenue, the traffic plan suggests using Stadium Road via the 9th Avenue signal.

Despite the road closures, the motorway network remains fully operational. Drivers traveling from Peshawar to Lahore should use the Taxila Motorway and Fateh Jang route via Tarnol Phatak. Moreover, the Red Line Metro Bus service continues to operate between Saddar and the Pak Secretariat, providing a reliable alternative for commuters.

Consequently, officials advise citizens to plan their journeys in advance and follow the designated diversions to avoid delays near the high-security zones. Police personnel remain stationed at all major junctions to guide motorists and maintain order during this significant diplomatic event.
