Netanyahu urges Trump to reject Iran ceasefire as talks gain momentum

Web Desk: An Israeli official said Prime Minister Netanyahu urged US President Donald Trump in a phone call not to pursue an immediate ceasefire with Iran, warning of potential risks tied to a rapid halt in hostilities.

According to the official, Netanyahu expressed concern that an immediate ceasefire with Iran could pose strategic dangers. He cautioned that halting military pressure too quickly might undermine broader security objectives.

Meanwhile, the White House has signaled openness to a ceasefire under strict conditions. Trump told Netanyahu that a truce could be possible if Iran agrees to US demands, including surrendering all enriched uranium and committing to halt future uranium enrichment.

However, Trump has coupled diplomatic signals with a stark warning. He gave Iran a deadline of Tuesday evening to approve a ceasefire agreement, cautioning that failure to comply could trigger major strikes on the country’s energy infrastructure.

Speaking at a press conference, Trump said the United States could destroy Iran “in a single night” if necessary, suggesting Tuesday as a possible timeline. He added that Tehran had limited time to reach an agreement.

At the same time, Trump indicated that bridges and energy facilities could become targets if talks collapse. Nevertheless, he expressed cautious optimism, saying negotiations were progressing positively and that Iran was engaging in good faith.

The White House also confirmed it is reviewing a 45-day ceasefire proposal presented by mediators. However, officials said no formal approval has been granted so far.

In contrast, Israel has advised against agreeing to a ceasefire at this stage, highlighting ongoing divisions between the allies over how to proceed.
