Ishaq Dar, Portuguese FM discuss urgent need for de-escalation

Web Desk: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar, held a phone conversation on Monday with Portugal’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel, to discuss the evolving regional situation and ways to strengthen diplomatic engagement.

During the discussion, Senator Dar highlighted the urgent need to reduce tensions in the region and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to promoting lasting peace and stability. He underscored Islamabad’s proactive efforts to facilitate dialogue and constructive engagement among regional actors.

Minister Rangel expressed full support for Pakistan’s initiatives, praising the country’s role in fostering diplomacy and dialogue. He commended Islamabad’s contributions toward maintaining peace in a region facing complex challenges.

Both leaders welcomed the positive trajectory in Pakistan-Portugal relations and agreed to expand cooperation across all areas of mutual interest. They stressed the importance of regular high-level interactions and committed to maintaining close communication to further strengthen bilateral ties.

The conversation reflects both countries’ commitment to sustained diplomatic dialogue and collaborative efforts for regional stability, while reinforcing the strategic partnership between Islamabad and Lisbon.
