Islamabad: The federal Constitutional Court has sought a response from Sohail Afridi regarding the alleged formation of a “release force.”

The hearing was conducted by a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan. During the proceedings, the petitioner’s lawyer presented relevant evidence and documents in support of the case.

The lawyer informed the court that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi had stated in a speech that he was “facing criminals,” and also referred to various articles containing alleged threats, as well as a judgment of the Karachi High Court related to law and order.

During the hearing, Justice Ali Baqar Najafi questioned whether the cabinet had approved the establishment of such a force. The petitioner’s lawyer responded that no such approval had been granted.

The court remarked that the federal government must ensure that no violation of law occurs at any level. Subsequently, notices were issued, and the Chief Minister was asked to submit an explanation.

Chief Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan further observed that such a force should not be formed for a convicted individual and emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the matter.
