Lahore: Pakistan Super League (PSL) cricketer Fakhar Zaman may face a ban for allegedly violating the code of conduct during a match.
According to sources, Fakhar Zaman of Lahore Qalandars has been accused of ball tampering during the match against Karachi Kings played yesterday.
Action will be taken against him under a Level 3 charge, which is considered a serious offense.
Fakhar Zaman denied the allegation during the initial hearing. The case will be reviewed again today by match referee Roshan Mahanama, who will announce the final decision.
Sources say Fakhar Zaman could face a ban of three or more matches.
It is worth mentioning that the alleged incident occurred before the start of the 20th over, when umpires noticed suspicious activity.
The ball was changed, and Karachi Kings were awarded 5 penalty runs.
The PSL Code of Conduct, aligned with international cricket standards, strictly prohibits actions like ball tampering, dissent against umpires, and unsportsmanlike behavior.
Offenses are categorized into different levels, with Level 3 breaches considered serious, often resulting in heavy fines and multiple-match bans.
