Web Desk: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, strongly criticised recent statements by the son of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, calling them against national interest. Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, he warned that certain elements repeatedly attempt to create narratives against Pakistan and engage in conspiracies, which are unacceptable.
Tarar emphasised that “national interest comes first,” adding that all citizens owe their loyalty to Pakistan regardless of political differences. He stated, “Political disagreements have their place, but any statement against the country cannot be tolerated. No political party or leader is bigger than Pakistan.”
The minister accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and associated groups of participating in conspiracies against the country, claiming that the public is well aware of these actions. He also criticised a segment within PTI for promoting personality-centric politics, warning that such attitudes pose a danger to national unity.
Highlighting Pakistan’s recent diplomatic successes, Tarar said the country has demonstrated effective and robust diplomacy on the global stage, enhancing its international credibility. He praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Syed Asim Munir for presenting Pakistan’s positions strongly on diplomatic fronts, which he said received global appreciation.
He noted that PTI previously wrote to the IMF seeking to deny Pakistan a bailout package, and now the former PM’s son is allegedly involved in international efforts to revoke Pakistan’s GSP Plus status. “Certain individuals are campaigning abroad against Pakistan, including in favor of India,” Tarar said.
Tarar also addressed PTI’s internal challenges, stating that the party is fragmented into multiple factions and lacks cohesive leadership. “Even if four people gather, they cannot unite. There are ten groups within the party itself,” he said, adding that PTI’s social media accounts fail to present balanced perspectives on global matters and often remain silent on critical issues.
Without naming Imran Khan directly, Tarar accused certain political figures and their supporters of spreading propaganda against the state, calling it intolerable. He urged such elements to reconsider their actions and refrain from damaging the country’s reputation.
The minister clarified that the government respects democratic criticism but will not compromise on national security or state interests. He stressed that personality politics and ego-driven leadership are harmful to the country.
Concluding his remarks, Tarar reiterated that under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, Pakistan remains on a path of development and progress. He emphasised that the government is committed to stability and improvement despite the challenges the country faces.
