Web Desk: Pakistan will face England in a crucial Super Eight clash of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on Tuesday as they push to secure a place in the semifinals.

The match will take place at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy, with play scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. local time. With qualification scenarios tightening, Pakistan must defeat England to ease their path into the knockout stage.

Pakistan entered the contest under pressure after their opening Super Eight match against New Zealand national cricket team was abandoned due to rain. As a result, both teams shared points, leaving Pakistan with little margin for error in the remaining fixtures.

Meanwhile, England strengthened their position by defeating hosts Sri Lanka national cricket team in Kandy. That victory boosted England’s standing in the group and intensified the stakes for Tuesday’s encounter.

Pakistan’s team management is considering one or two changes to the playing XI. Officials will assess pitch conditions and weather factors before finalizing the lineup.

Batter Sahibzada Farhan said he was confident about facing England’s pace attack, including fast bowler Jofra Archer. However, he stressed that Pakistan’s batters must show responsibility in a high-pressure match.

“We have full confidence in our spinners,” Farhan said. “They can play a decisive role.”

Pakistan’s campaign now hinges on delivering a complete performance against England. A victory would significantly improve their chances of reaching the semifinals and avoid reliance on other results.

After the England fixture, Pakistan will conclude their Super Eight stage against Sri Lanka national cricket team.

For Pakistan, the equation remains simple: win and stay firmly in contention; lose and risk an early exit from the tournament.
