⏱ 2 minute read
T20 Pak vs New zealand

The Super Eight match of Pakistan vs New Zealand to be held tomorrow (Saturday) promises to be a thrilling contest in the T20 World Cup 2026 of the ICC.

Both sides have proven to be T20 match-winners and the encounter is evenly matched .It is considered a head-to-head 50th meeting between the countries in cricket’s shortest format. The victory margin for the teams is narrowly edged by Pakistan with24 wins to New Zealand’s23.

Pakistan’s Game Plan

Pakistan are likely to continue with their spin ball heavy bowling strategy, which has brought them consistent results in the tournament.

Colombo’s surface should be a help to slower bowlers and hence give Pakistan an edge in middle-order.

With the likes of Abrar Ahmed and Shadab Khan keeping the strike rate to a minimum, they will look to curb New Zealand’s scoring rate.

In batting, the weight will be on aggressive start. Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub are likely to attack during the Powerplay, Salman Agha and Babar Azam are stable in the middle order.

If early momentum goes to the Green Shirts, it may achieve an easy win.

Key Players – Pakistan

Sahibzada Farhan is the batting ace of Pakistan after his brilliant century earlier in the tournament. His capacity to have the upper hand over bowlers from the beginning makes him essential.

Usman Tariq has become a wicket-taking source. His smart variations in the middle overs could break New Zealand’s rhythm.

New Zealand’s Approach

New Zealand will bank on their powerful batting line-up. Finn Allen’s explosive starts and Glenn Phillips’ stroke play can shift the momentum quickly.

However, training to adapt to face spin friendly conditions will be vital.

With the ball, the most important components are Lockie Ferguson’s pace and Mitchell Santner’s spin. They will seek to take up the early attack and push Pakistan for risky shots.
