Pakistan beats Namibia: qualifies for super eight category

In the T20 World Cup match played at Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo, Pakistan defeated Namibia by 102 runs to secure a place in the Super Eight stage.


Chasing a target of 200 runs, Namibia struggled throughout their innings, losing wickets at regular intervals. By the 16th over, eight wickets had fallen with the total at 96. Key batters including Gerhard Erasmus were dismissed cheaply. Namibia were eventually bowled out for just 97 runs in the 17th over.


For Pakistan, Usman Tariq struck twice in the 14th over, removing JJ Smit and Ruben Trumpelmann. Mohammad Nawaz, Shadab Khan, and Salman Mirza claimed one wicket each.

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. A record-breaking unbeaten century by Sahibzada Farhan powered Pakistan to a massive total of 199/3 in 20 overs. Farhan remained not out on 100, while Shadab Khan contributed an unbeaten 36.


This was Farhan’s maiden T20 International century, making him the second Pakistani batter after Ahmed Shehzad to score a century in a T20 World Cup.
Captain Salman Ali Agha scored 38, Saim Ayub made 14, and Khawaja Nafay added 5 runs.


For Namibia, Jack Brassell took two wickets, while Gerhard Erasmus picked up one.


With this dominant win, Pakistan have strengthened their position in the tournament as the competition intensifies.
