Web Desk: Senior intelligence officials have confirmed that a video circulated by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), showing its commander Bashir Zeb alongside motorcycle riders, was recorded two months ago in Afghanistan, casting doubt on the group’s recent claims.
According to high-level intelligence sources, the footage being widely shared online is not recent and does not reflect current conditions on the ground in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province.
Officials said the video was filmed outside Pakistan and resurfaced as part of a propaganda effort amid ongoing security operations against militant networks.
“The footage is old and was recorded in Afghanistan,” an intelligence source said, adding that its circulation appears aimed at creating a misleading impression of militant presence and mobility inside Balochistan.
Authorities said the timing of the video’s release coincided with intensified counterterrorism actions in the province.
Meanwhile, security sources said forces were targeting additional militant hideouts and covert shelters as part of an accelerated campaign to dismantle BLA infrastructure.
Officials said operations were underway in multiple areas, with further developments expected later in the day. They added that the intensified actions had increased pressure on militant elements and disrupted their planning.
“There are indications of further successful outcomes,” a security official said, without providing details.
At the same time, sources said counterterrorism operations in Balochistan were being carried out through coordinated efforts involving the provincial government, police and security agencies.
Officials said the objective remained the restoration of law and order and the protection of civilians, adding that agencies were operating under a unified framework to prevent militant attacks.
Authorities reiterated that operations would continue until militant networks and their support structures were fully dismantled.
