Web Desk: People are likely to get relief once again regarding the prices of petroleum products. According to media reports, government is considering reducing the prices of petroleum products from January 16, which could be good news for the public for the fourth time in a row.

If this reduction is approved after the relief given at the beginning of the new year, consumers will get more convenience. Officials say that the prices of petroleum products are expected to decrease by Rs 4.59 per liter overall. According to sources, the price of petrol is likely to decrease by Rs 4.59 per liter, high-speed diesel by Rs 2.70 per liter, similarly, the price of kerosene oil may become cheaper by Rs 1.82 per liter and light diesel oil by Rs 2.8 per liter.

According to sources, after the approval of the Prime Minister, the Petroleum Division will officially announce the new prices, which will be effective for the next 15 days. It should be noted that on January 1, 2026, the government reduced the price of petrol by Rs 10.28 per liter and the price of high-speed diesel by Rs 8.57 per liter.

According to officials, the main reason for the possible reduction in prices is the decrease in crude oil prices in the global market, relaxation in customs duties and changes in the currency rate. On January 11, the price of petrol in the global market had dropped by $ 2.74 per barrel to $ 66.54 per barrel.
