first winter rainfall

Islamabad: Pakistan’s capital Islamabad experienced its first winter rainfall on Saturday, marking a seasonal shift as showers swept across Islamabad and surrounding areas, officials and residents said.

Change in weather pattern

The rain ended a prolonged dry spell and signaled the arrival of winter weather, with temperatures dipping noticeably after the showers. Residents welcomed the rainfall, which brought cleaner air and a chill to the city’s evenings.

Impact on daily life

Meanwhile, light to moderate rain slowed traffic in parts of the capital but caused no major disruptions. Authorities said no damage or emergencies were reported.

The rain is expected to bring life to the cultivated wheat crops in the surrounding regions and will fulfill the water shortage.

Weather officials said cooler conditions are expected to persist, with the possibility of additional rain in northern regions in the coming days. The first winter rain is often seen as a turning point in Islamabad’s seasonal climate, ushering in colder nights and clearer skies.
