Rain, strong winds expected in Islamabad from tonight

ISLAMABAD: According to the meteorological department is expected that rain will be accompanied by strong winds in the federal capital, Islamabad, from tonight.

The weather will likely be turning pleasant. The intensity of the cold is also expected to increase.

The spell of rain may continue intermittently, according to the meteorological department. Strong winds may blow in some areas. The department has advised citizens to take precautionary measures.

Under the same weather system, snowfall along with rain is expected in Galiyat and Murree. It is also likely that snowfall will occur in the upper areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.

Meanwhile, smog and fog are likely to persist in various plain areas of Punjab. Visibility will be affected by it.

Citizens have been advised by the Meteorological Department to remain cautious while travelling and to stay updated with the latest weather conditions.

A contract has been signed by the Pakistan Meteorological Department to install advanced automatic weather stations under the World Bank-funded Hydromet Project.

To strengthen a climate-responsive early warning system, the stations will be set up across the country.

Officials say the new AWS network will enhance weather monitoring and forecasting capacity.

Improvement will be seen in lead time for early warnings due to the system. It will limit economic losses and protect human lives.
