Faiz Hameed sentenced to 14 years by military court

Rawalpindi: Former Lt Gen Faiz Hameed has been sentenced to 14 years rigorous imprisonment after a Field General Court Martial found him guilty on multiple charges including political interference, misuse of authority, and violation of the Official Secrets Act.

The process of Field General Court Martial was initiated against Mr. Faiz Hameed on August 12, 2024. The process was started under provisions of Pakistan Army Act spreading over 15 months, according to ISPR.

The accused Faiz Hameed was tried on four charges which related to violation of Official Secret Act detrimental to safety and interest of the State, engaging in political activities, misuse of government and authority resources and causing wrongful loss to individuals.

After laborious and lengthy legal proceedings, Faiz Hameed was found guilty on all charges. The court has decided to sentence him to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment. The decision came on 11 December 2025.

The accused was afforded the defence of his choice with all his legal rights. All legal provisions were complied with. The convicted individual will have the right to appeal at relevant forum.

The involvement of convict in inciting political instabily and agitation by being in cohorts with political elements is being dealth with separately.

Many political figures have also praised this decisions. Notably, Minister of Defence stating “The nation will spend years reaping the harvest of the seeds sown by Faiz Hameed and General Bajwa. May Allah forgive us, and grant us the ability to use power and authority. Which are His blessings, for the benefit of His creation. May the fear of God become the way of our rulers. Ameen”

Other political figures also shared their views. Atta Tarar said ” “Anyone who crosses the red line faces consequences, and that is the foundation of a strong state,”.
