Pakistan Awards Nishan-e-Pakistan to Indonesian President

President Asif Ali Zardari presented the top civilian award, Nishan-e-Pakistan, to Indonesian president Prabowo Subianto at a formal award ceremony at the President’s House in Islamabad.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and other senior officials were present at the ceremony.

During Subianto’s two-day official visit, he met with several Pakistani leaders. At the same time, he held meetings with military leaders as well. According to the Foreign Ministry, Indonesian President met with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

The visit of the Indonesian president is significant as Pakistan and Indonesia are celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations this year.

The President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, will arrive on an official visit to Islamabad today at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising key ministers and senior officials.

This will be the President Prabowo’s first visit to Pakistan. The last presidential visit from Indonesia was undertaken by President Joko Widodo in 2018. Foreign office said on Sunday in press release that the upcoming visit carries added significance as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Indonesia.
