ISLAMABAD: The final supermoon of 2025 will brighten Pakistan’s night sky on December 4 and 5. This will draw photographers and skywatchers to vantage points across the country.
The super moon will appear nearly 15 percent brighter and 7.9 percent larger than a typical moon, according to the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO). The moon will come within 357,218 kilometers of Earth. The phenomenon of super moon occurs when moon reaches its closest point to earth.
In 2025 this will be the third and last super moon. It will reach 99.2 percent brightness on December’s 4 evening. It will peak on December 5 at 4:15 am peaking at a brightness of 99.8 percent. The spectacle will be visible on both nights across Pakistan according to Suparco.
The astronomy enthusiasts all over the world will be able to observe the supermoon on December 4 and 5, the final supermoon of 2025 will brighten Pakistan’s night sky. This will draw photographers and skywatchers to vantage points across the country.
This will be the last supermoon of 2025, the previous one was observed on November 5. The next supermoon is expected to appear in early 2026 which will fall outside the 2025 cycle.
It has been noted by the experts that when a supermoon rises near the horizon, due to a natural optical illusion it appears even larger. This effect has captivated stargazers for centuries.
