three-day holiday

Peshawar: Authorities in Mansehra district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have announced a three-day holiday for all government and private schools as the area prepares for a by-election. The district administration declared that schools will remain closed on November 22, 23, and 24 in connection with the NA-18 by-election scheduled for November 23, 2025.

Closure aims to maintain safety during election

According to the official notification, schools will remain shut to avoid any untoward incidents and to ensure peace and security during electoral activities. Local officials emphasized that the decision was a precautionary measure to support smooth polling.

Winter break and exams affect schools nationwide

Meanwhile, across Pakistan, the onset of the winter holiday season and ongoing examinations have increased activity in schools. In the colder regions of Balochistan, government schools will close from December 16 for approximately two and a half months, giving students extended winter holidays. In Chaman, authorities will hold exams for grades one through seven from November 16 to 24, while they will start the grade eight board exams on November 24.

Punjab winter vacations confirmed

In Punjab, winter vacations will run from December 23, 2025, to January 11, 2026, with schools reopening on January 13. Although rumors circulated that schools might close early due to smog, provincial officials clarified that no decision has been made regarding such closures.

Educational schedule adjusts to local events

The combination of electoral activities in Mansehra and winter holidays in different parts of the country has led to significant adjustments in the academic calendar. With exams approaching, both school administrations and students are busy preparing for assessments while managing the changing schedules.
