Web Desk: President Donald Trump said the United States intends to move forward with selling F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia during talks with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the White House, deepening defence and economic ties while reopening debate over regional security and normalization efforts.

Trump Confirms Plan to Supply Advanced Jets

In the Oval Office, Trump told reporters that Washington would proceed with the sale of the U.S.-made stealth aircraft, calling Saudi Arabia a reliable partner. Riyadh has sought as many as 48 F-35s in a multibillion-dollar deal that recently passed a key review within the Pentagon, according to earlier U.S. assessments.

Each F-35A carries an average price tag of roughly $82.5 million, manufacturer Lockheed Martin has said.

Concerns Emerge Over Technology and Regional Balance

Even as the potential sale advances, some U.S. defence officials have voiced concern that providing the jets to Saudi Arabia could expose sensitive stealth capabilities, particularly given Riyadh’s developing security ties with China.
Israeli officials have also expressed reservations, warning that the transfer could affect Israel’s long-standing military advantage in the region. Israel is the only Middle Eastern country currently operating the F-35.

Saudi Position on Abraham Accords

During discussions on Middle East diplomacy, Saudi Arabia signaled willingness to join the Abraham Accords if there is meaningful movement toward a two-state solution between Israelis and Palestinians. The White House did not offer additional details on the proposal.

Economic Agenda Takes Prominent Role

The leaders also explored broader investment and trade opportunities. Trump said Saudi Arabia plans to channel about $600 billion into U.S. ventures, adding that the figure could ultimately reach $1 trillion.
He further claimed credit for de-escalating global conflicts and attracting what he described as trillions of dollars in investment to the U.S. economy, though he did not substantiate those figures.

High-Level Meeting Marks Renewed Engagement

The Oval Office session underscored Washington and Riyadh’s efforts to expand cooperation on defence, economic strategy and regional diplomacy. Additional announcements are expected as detailed negotiations continue.
