Lahore: Punjab schools Saturday’s holiday 2025 announced, all schools will now remain closed on Saturdays, a move aimed at aligning with standard weekly schedules. Previously, schools under the foundation operated six days a week without a Saturday off.
In addition to the new weekly holiday, PEF has revised school hours. Classes will now run from 8:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., while Friday sessions will conclude earlier at 12:30 p.m. The updated timings are set to remain in effect until April 15, 2026.
Recruitment Drive Expands Opportunities
Meanwhile, the foundation launched a large-scale hiring campaign last month, offering more than 100 positions across multiple departments. The vacancies include eight Subject Specialist roles in core subjects, along with openings for Network Support Engineers, Executive Assistants, and ten driver positions with salaries of Rs. 57,500 per month.
Private Schools Under Smog Regulations Scrutiny
Separately, several private schools in Punjab have come under scrutiny for violating government orders restricting outdoor activities due to rising smog levels. Despite a province-wide ban, some institutions reportedly continued arranging student outings to venues such as Joyland, Jallo Park, Safari Park, and Lahore Zoo.
PEF’s Mission and Public-Private Model
Established under the PEF Act of 1991, the foundation operates as an autonomous body promoting non-commercial, non-profit education across Punjab. In 2004, PEF was restructured under the Punjab Education Foundation Act-XII to encourage private sector participation in providing quality education to underprivileged students through a public–private partnership model.
