Petrol Price

Islamabad: Pakistan adjusted fuel prices from November 16, with high-speed diesel rising sharply while petrol price remain unchanged, according to Finance Division’s notification.

Diesel Prices Spiked

According to the official notification the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) increased by Rs 6 per litre, reaching Rs 284.4. Diesel powers most transportation and agricultural machinery, so this hike is likely to push up costs for goods and farming operations across the country.

Petrol Offer Relief

In contrast, petrol prices stays the same to Rs 265.45. Petrol remains the fuel of choice for motorbikes and private vehicles and serves as an alternative to CNG in Punjab, making the price adjustment significant for middle and lower income households.

Global Trends and Taxes Drive Changes

Industry sources noted that the new pricing incorporates international premiums of $5.10 per barrel on petrol and $3.20 per barrel on diesel. Taxes continue to play a significant role, with consumers currently paying Rs 80.52 per litre on petrol and Rs 79.51 per litre on diesel under petroleum levy and carbon tax.
