KP Government Announces Cabinet Portfolios

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administration has formally issued a notification assigning portfolios to provincial cabinet members following directives from Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, officials said on Saturday.

According to the notification issued by the Administration Department, Meena Khan Afridi has been appointed as the Provincial Minister for Local Government, Elections and Rural Development, while Arshad Ayub Khan will oversee the Primary and Secondary Education Department.

Fazal Shakoor Khan has been given the portfolio of Public Health Engineering and Dr. Amjad Ali will serve as the Minister for Housing. Aftab Alam will head the Ministry of Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights and Syed Fakhar Jehan will take charge of Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control.

Focus on Governance and Public Services

Riaz Khan has been appointed as the Minister for Irrigation, while Khaleeq ur Rehman will lead the Health Department. Aqibullah Khan will serve as the Minister for Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement and Faisal Khan Tarakai has been assigned the Labour Department.

In addition, Muzzammil Aslam has been named Advisor on Finance, Taj Muhammad Tarand will advise on Sports and Youth Affairs and Shafiullah Jan has been appointed Special Assistant on Information.

Chief Minister’s Directive

Officials said Chief Minister Afridi directed the provincial secretariat to expedite coordination between departments to ensure effective governance and public service delivery. The cabinet reshuffle, they added, aims to enhance administrative efficiency and improve the province’s development agenda.

The provincial government is expected to hold its first formal cabinet meeting under the new lineup early next week in Peshawar.
