Cairo: Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, has embarked on an official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt aimed at enhancing military cooperation between the two brotherly Islamic nations, according to ISPR.

Upon arrival, Field Marshal Munir was received with full military honors at the Egyptian Ministry of Defense. He paid respects by laying flowers at the Unknown Soldier Memorial and the tomb of former Egyptian President Anwar Sadat.

During his visit, the Army Chief held high-level meetings with key Egyptian military officials, including Minister of Defense General Mohamed Ahmed Zaki and Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa Fathi. Discussions focused on mutual interests, regional security challenges, and avenues to deepen defense collaboration.

Field Marshal Munir emphasized the significance of Pakistan-Egypt ties, stating, “Egypt is a brotherly Islamic country and cooperation between our armed forces is vital for peace and stability in the region.”

In addition to his military engagements, the Army Chief met with Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar University, one of the leading centers of Islamic scholarship. The two discussed the pressing challenges facing the Muslim Ummah. Sheikh al-Tayeb expressed concerns over growing extremist ideologies, while Field Marshal Munir underscored the urgent need to eliminate extremist views and distorted interpretations of Islam.

The visit marks a strengthening era of Pakistan-Egypt defense relations and reflects both nations’ commitment to working together on regional peace and security.
