New policy for Pakistan's youth

Chairman Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan announced on Tuesday that Pakistan is developing its first-ever National Youth and Adolescence policy through nationwide consultations with provinces, UNICEF, and youth representatives to guarantee broad-based participation and coordinated policymaking for the country’s youth.

The initiative seeks to empower youth through education, technology, and skill development in line with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s long-term plan for a digitally advanced and unified Pakistan.

Rana Mashhood revealed that over 700,000 young people have signed up on the Digital Youth Hub within just four months, representing a great step in youth engagement and technological innovation.

Rana Mashhood praised UNICEF and teams from all the provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan for taking part in developing the policy plan. He acknowledged their collective efforts in shaping a shared vision for the country’s youth.

Rana Mashhood mentioned that during his time in office as Punjab Youth Minister, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) initiated Punjab’s first Youth Policy in 2011. He showcased that the Digital Youth Hub has become a fair, performance-based platform that connects youth with education, skills training, and entrepreneurship opportunities. He further said that this initiative is helping strengthen trust between the government and young people.
