Bajaur: Regional security forces have intercepted a vehicle carrying hundreds of kilograms of explosives belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij, according to security sources.
The explosives-laden vehicle was being transported into Bajaur with the apparent intent to target a civilian area. Security forces successfully identified and neutralized the threat by destroying the vehicle before it could be used, the sources said, adding that there were no casualties among security personnel or civilians during the operation.
They further revealed that the explosives had been smuggled from Afghanistan along with other contraband and were destined for targets inside Pakistan.
Earlier, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the Tangi Kali area of Datta Khel, resulting in the killing of six Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists and injuries to three others.
The operation was launched following credible intelligence indicating militant movement in the area. Security forces had maintained close surveillance for 8 to 10 days before engaging the terrorists on October 16.
Among those killed was a key militant commander, Mehboob alias Muhammad. The operation forms part of the ongoing campaign to eliminate elements attempting to destabilize peace in the region.
Security sources stated that both the public and the armed forces remain resolute in their determination to eradicate terrorism from the country.
Over the past four days alone, 94 militants sent by the Afghan Taliban have been eliminated.
Security sources reaffirmed that, under the National Action Plan, the armed forces and the people of Pakistan will continue to defend the nation until the last of these militants is eliminated.
