Web desk: India has released more water into the Sutlej River again. India informed Pakistan of another flood surge in the Sutlej River, intensifying the flood crisis across Punjab.

Severe flood levels in Punjab rivers

Extremely high floods have been recorded at Ganda Singh Wala on the Sutlej, while Head Sulaimanki, Head Sidhnai, and Balloki are also under high to very high flood levels.

The Chenab River at Chiniot has reached a dangerous mark as well, while rising water at Head Panjnad has submerged vast areas in Liaquatpur.

Villages submerged, millions affected

So far, nearly 3,900 villages in Punjab are under water, affecting around 3.9 million people.

At least 18,000 residents have been moved to safer locations, but 50 lives have been lost.

Crops and homes in Ganda Singh Wala were destroyed, forcing locals with livestock to move to roadsides.

Erosion and high water flows in Taunsa, DG Khan

Flood erosion has intensified in Dera Ghazi Khan and Taunsa, where agricultural lands are being washed away.

Water flows of 240,000 cusecs at Taunsa and 250,000 cusecs at Ghazi Ghat have worsened the situation.

In several villages, floodwater remains stagnant, and boats are being used for movement.
