BEIJING: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday landed in Pakistan after his six-day official successful trip to China.
At the Capital International Airport in Beijing, Han Xerong, Member of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the People’s Political Consultative Conference, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi and diplomatic staff bid farewell to the Prime Minister, a Prime Minister’s Office news release said.
During his visit to China, the prime minister attended the 25th Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Heads of State and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Plus Summit in Tianjin.
The Prime Minister attended the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the World War Against Fascism.
The Prime Minister held bilateral meetings with the President and Prime Minister of China, the Presidents of Russia, Iran, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Tajikistan
The Prime Minister also attended the second China-Pakistan Business-to-Business Conference.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif earlier announced a major breakthrough in Beijing. Joint venture agreements worth 1.5 billion dollars and MOUs worth 7 billion dollars were signed between Chinese and Pakistani partners.
The combined value reached 8.5 billion dollars by the close of the conference.
Historic haul of deals between Pakistan and China
The prime minister called the outcome a historic success for economic ties. Business leaders from both countries signed joint ventures in multiple areas of cooperation.
The figure of 1.5 billion dollars in firm JVs gives a strong starting base. The additional 7 billion dollars in MOUs opens a wider pipeline.
The prime minister thanked participants for confidence in Pakistan.
The message to Chinese investors from Prime Minister was that Pakistan welcomes capital technology and jobs that lift industry and exports.
