Web desk: Tremors from an earthquake were felt in the federal capital, Islamabad, as well as in several other cities across Pakistan.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, residents of Peshawar, Attock, Abbottabad, Hangu, and Swat reported feeling the earthquake, causing panic among citizens who rushed out of homes and offices, reciting Kalma Tayyaba in fear.

According to the authorities, an earthquake originating in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan was felt in parts of Pakistan on September 4, 2025, at 9:56 PM PST.

The earthquake registered a magnitude of 5.9 and occurred at a depth of 111 km. Its epicentre was recorded at latitude 35.12°N and longitude 70.71°E.

It is worth noting that a powerful earthquake on the night of September 1 caused over 1,400 deaths and hundreds of injuries in Afghanistan. Tremors from that quake were felt from Kabul to Islamabad.

The province of Kunar suffered the most damage, with hundreds of houses destroyed, while Nangarhar also experienced casualties and property losses.

Zabiullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban government, stated in a press conference in Kabul that the majority of casualties occurred in Kunar province, with additional losses in Nangarhar.

So far, no casualties or property damage have been reported. Local authorities and rescue agencies are monitoring the situation closely and remain ready to respond to any emergency.
