Defence and Martyrs Day

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir NI M HJ Chief of Army Staff, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza NI NI M Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Admiral Naveed Ashraf NI NI M Chief of the Naval Staff, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu NI M HJ Chief of the Air Staff, on behalf of the Armed Forces of Pakistan, offered deepest respect to the martyrs and to the families on the 60th Defence and Martyrs Day.

The message honoured sacrifice, courage, and national unity.

Tribute to martyrs and families

Pakistan marked Defence and Martyrs Day with solemn remembrance. Leadership saluted martyrs, ghazis, and resilient families whose sacrifices secured the country.

The tribute underlined duty toward dependents of the fallen and gratitude from every rank. Feats of heroism were described as a timeless guide for young generations.

Furthermore, the spirit of service, discipline, and faith remains a living lesson for classrooms, cantonments, and communities across the country.

Legacy of 6 September 1965

The day of 6 September 1965 stands as proof of unflinching resolve. Soldiers, backed by a united nation, faced an adversary stronger in numbers and arms.

Whereas, aggression was defeated and hostile plans were broken. The record on the battlefield left a clear message that a united nation cannot be overcome.

Similarly, that legacy continues to shape training, readiness, and standards of professionalism. Moreover, the Armed Forces draw strength from this history while preparing for modern threats on land, at sea, and in the air.

Calamity response and pledge to defend

Beyond defence against external aggression and terrorism, the Armed Forces support citizens during calamities and natural disasters.

Units will extend full assistance to flood affected areas and will observe the day with humility. In addition, a pledge was renewed to uphold the trust placed by the nation.

Vigilance will remain high against all threats. Any attempt to disturb hard earned peace will meet a firm and decisive response.

The commitment from the Pakistan Armed forces is simple. Protect the homeland. Stand with the people. Serve with honour.
